Marston's Pub Company is to re-locate 60 service and support staff in Burton-upon-Trent, Staffordshire, to a single head-office operation in Wolverhampton.

The move, to be complete by the autumn, results from plans to merge the brewery and tenanted pubs businesses into one division.

Marston's Brewery operation and staff are not affected by the move — and Marston's Pub Company staff will be offered posts in Wolverhampton. Pub Company managing director Alistair Darby said: "By aligning all of our company's service and support staff for our consumers and our customers in one place, in close proximity to all of our corporate functions, we can share knowledge and skills, be more effective and offer even greater levels of service.

"In the short-term future we are going to consider every possible opportunity and explore how we can help with costs for the longer commute or relocation, such as travel expenses or transport between Burton and Wolverhampton.

"We will communicate further progress by 31 March."
