A Lancashire woman is appealing for help on her pub crawl with a difference – to visit every Red Lion in the UK.

Personal trainer Cathy Price started her quest in April 2011 and has so far managed to tick off 433 Red Lions stretching from Penzance in Cornwall to Fochabers near Elgin in Scotland.

She estimates she has about 180 left to go but is keen to hear from publicans about any she may have missed.

The 55-year-old, from Preston, told the PMA: “It all started when I went to the Red Lion in Hawkshead and there was a sign outside saying Red Lion was the most common pub name. I thought it would be fun to see if I could visit them all and it slowly built momentum from there.

“I started off getting them from Google but I eventually got a proper list. You can never be sure so I’d really like to hear from anyone who knows of a Red Lion that has opened recently or might not be so well known.”

Passion

This passion for pubs has even spread to Price's home, where she has used some of the signs given to her on her travels to transform her garage into her very own bar.

But she insists she is not trying add to the number of official Red Lions across the country.

She said: "I did have the licensing officers round to check after it was in the local paper. But it's just for friends."
