BT Sport has agreed a deal with boxing channel BoxNation to provide access for subscribing licensees.

From early 2017, all licensees with a BT Sport Pack subscription will be given free access to BoxNation's full-time coverage as part of their standard deal.

On top of this, all licensees subscribed to BT Sport will have access to at least 20 Saturday night fights scheduled after the channel's 5.30pm Premier League football matches, including world, European, British and Commonwealth title fights.

BT Sport director of commercial customers Bruce Cuthbert said: “Following on from our recent first steps into cricket coverage, our expanding list of sports rights will now include BoxNation and access to boxing world title bouts, all included in the price of the BT Sport subscription.

"We are committed to bringing our customers more live events to help drive incremental footfall and dwell time.”

Since it was launched in 2012, BoxNation has shown fights featuring the likes of Tyson Fury, Amir Khan, Gennady Golovkin and Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez. The channel also provides a number of popular magazine shows including Bunce’s Boxing Hour and BoxNation Presents... Cassius and Helder.

BoxNation will remain available for customers of Sky Sports for the same subscription cost currently offered.

BT Sport securing its first top-flight boxing deal follows its first foray into international cricket coverage when the channel recently secured the rights to Australia's Test matches.
