Ex-BrewDog CEO James Watt has announced he will be launching a new business this summer.

In a post shared to LinkedIn today (Thursday 6 June), Watt said the new business would be in the “brand building space” with a focus on “building community and rewarding everyday people for genuine brand advocacy and love”.

Watt added he would share more details on the new venture, called Social Tip, “very soon”.

Advocacy and love

The post said: “I am building a new business! I will share the full details with all of you very soon and we are launching this Summer.

“The new business will be in the brand building space and will focus on building community and rewarding everyday people for genuine brand advocacy and love. The business is called Social Tip.”

The BrewDog co-founder also stated while Social Tip already had an “amazing team” of eight people, he was looking for more “driven individuals” to help build the company, including someone to lead operations in America as well as two graduate programs.

“The role will be incredibly hands on and we are looking for someone experienced and ambitious who likes being in the trenches too. An equity package is available for this role”, Watt said of the US position.

Captain and co-founder

Regarding the graduate posts, which will be UK-based, Watt detailed the “successful candidates” would work with him directly as well as the firm’s director of partnerships on the sales, marketing, community, brand and social media parts of the business.

Last month Watt announced he would be stepping down as BrewDog chief executive after 17-years at the helm of the Ellon-based business, which he co-founded with Martin Dickie in 2007.

Though the ex-CEO stayed on the BrewDog PLC board in the role of “captain and co-founder” and remained a major shareholder.

COO James Arrow succeeded Watt as CEO as part of a succession plan, which was put in place last year.
