Top Sawday Pubs announced
The top pubs have been announced in the awards of the Alastair Sawday's Pubs & Inns of England and Wales Guide 2009.
The winners of the local, seasonal & organic produce award are the Thomas Lord, West Meon, Petersfield, Hampshire; the Brown Horse Inn, Winster, Windermere, Cumbria; and the Royal Oak, Bishopstone, Swindon, Wiltshire.
The winners of the authentic pub award are the Bell Inn, Aldworth, Berkshire; the Harp, Old Radnor, Presteigne, Powys and the Tobie Norris, Stamford, Lincolnshire.
The top three pubs with rooms award goes to the Crown, Park Street, Stoke-by-Nayland, Suffolk; the Farmer's Inn, West Hatch, Taunton, Somerset and the Turtley Corn Mill, Avonwick, South Brent, Devon.
Winning the community pub award are the George, Alstonefield, Ashbourne, Staffordshire; the Gaggle of Geese, Buckland Newton, Dorchester, Dorset and the Black Swan, Ravenstonedale, Kirkby Stephen, Cumbria.
The awards are announced in the new edition of the guide, which features 900 pubs, including 120 new entries.
The guide costs £15.99 and is available from tomorrow.
