Global Brands is extending its Hooch brand with two new flavours, a year after it revived the drink.

Hooch Orange and Hooch Blackcurrant, two of the most popular flavours from the brand’s heyday in the ’90s, will join the line-up. They were chosen by Hooch fans via a vote on social-media sites.

“At the peak of their popularity, Hooch Lemon, Orange and Blackcurrant were selling a combined volume of around two million bottles per week,” said marketing director Simon Green.

“Flavours are driving interest across the drinks categories, from cider to beer, and by bringing back the public’s preferred flavours we will broaden the overall appeal and awareness of Hooch while investing in RTDs, a drinks category in which we lead the market.”

Over 35s, who remember the brand from the first time, as well as a new generation of drinkers drawn to the over-ice serve and fruity flavour of the brand, have contributed to a successful first year for the drink, Green explained.

“Hooch is experiencing average month on month growth of 38%, and the response from consumers has been unprecedented,” he said.

The new Hooch flavours will be supported by a multi-million pound campaign, which includes PoS material and staff training in the on-trade.
