The 20,000sq ft Millennium Plaza​ in the Welsh capital now boasts a 14-screen Ster Century cinema and a mixture of bars including Regent Inns' Bar Risa​, Surfers​ and Jongleurs​ and a Jumpin' Jaks​. Meanwhile, property agent James A Baker​ says that there are signs that local operators are beginning to seek out city centre sites. JW Lees​ has invested half a million pounds to refurbish its former Hardy's​ pub in Chorlton, Manchester. The bar has been redesigned as a traditional bar with a contemporary twist and will revert to its old name of Lloyds​. The new site now has a private function room, which can accommodate up to 50 people, with a plasma screen, powerpoint facilities and a bar.

Speymill Contracts​, the leisure and hotel division of AIM-listed the Wigmore Group Plc​, is to start work for Regent Inns​ on its Walkabout​ brand situated in central Plymouth. The project comprises a new developers shell with a contract period of 13 weeks and is valued at approximately at £500,000.

The Three Horseshoes​ in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, has been sold through agent Fleurets​ for £45,000 for the leasehold. The Rebellion Beer Company​ has taken on the lease of the property with plans to continue running it as a local pub, serving a broad range of beer and ales. Rebellion plans to inject some capital into the business to fund a minor refurbishment and hopes to improve turnover in the site.

Three new leisure developments with a combined value of £160m have been agreed for Southampton city centre. The Northern Above Bar scheme​, which has been labelled Southampton's "cultural quarter" will boast a 4,000sq ft mezzanine level which will have a range of bars and cafés. The West Quay​ development will host large-scale performance events and an Olympic-sized ice rink with a 5,000-capacity, while the Charlotte Place​ roundabout development will see a new hotel for the city.
