Malibu signs Shaggy
Reggae singer Shaggy is set to be the new face of Malibu. It is expected the star will appear in ads for the coconut-flavoured rum next year, under the long-running "Seriously Easy" campaign. A spokesman for Allied Domecq, Malibu's owner, said Shaggy was a "perfect fit" for the brand. Shaggy's role will be discussed by the company's new independent advertising review board. Foster's ad tamed Foster's has been banned from screening an ad, depicting a pelican biting off the head of a reporter, before 7.30pm. The Independent Television Commission upheld 15 complaints against the commercial, ruling it was unsuitable for viewing by children. The ITC earlier dismissed objections against another ad in the Don't lose your head campaign, showing a bungee jumper losing his head to a crocodile. Piper in key deal Maxxium UK has announced a national on-trade distribution deal with wholesaler Matthew Clark for its premium Piper-Heidsieck Champagne range, taking effect from January. Maxxium UK's managing director Justin Adams said: "Our team will continue to build the profile of Piper in the on-trade, while Matthew Clark's premium wine experience will extend its reach." Feelfine for clubs Feelfine UK is pushing its "recovery" drink in London's clubs and bars as a soother for clubbers. The Feelfine drink, in 25cl cans or stronger powdered form, increases blood sugar levels, cuts stomach acidity and re-hydrates the body, the company said. Feelfine's director Lynne Bowen said: "Promotion of Feelfine in clubs will be twofold: as a hangover relief and as a drink to rehydrate the body." Coors' cocktails Coors is sponsoring a competition among bar staff to find Britain's "juiciest" cocktail, using its vodka-based RTD Reef as the main ingredient.
