Wolverhampton & Dudley Breweries beer has struck a blow for beer-loving dieters everywhere with the creation of some new low fat beer and food matchings.

Using the low calorie beer Marston's Resolution, food and drink writer Fiona Beckett has come up with a series of matches ideal for those wanting to count the calories.

Ms Beckett, who was previously involved in the development of beer and food matchings for Marston's Pedigree, has come up with three new combinations, each of which includes a bottle of Resolution and none of which contain more than 350 calories.

In research conducted by Wolverhampton & Dudley Breweries at The Good Food Show last year, over a quarter of those questioned said healthiness would make beer more appealing.

A single bottle of Resolution, although 4.7 per cent ABV, contains no more than 85 calories.

The brand was formerly known as "Low C" before its recent relaunch.
