PubFood looks at pub activity planned for Pancake Day.

Pub caterers are offering a range of events for today’s Pancake Day (Shrove Tuesday).

London based ETM Group is offering customers ordering a two-course meal at four of its pubs the chance to toss a coin to try and win a free pancake dessert.

The operator is also offering savoury and sweet pancakes on menus including a hog roast pancake with apple, watercress and smoked paprika and crab and sweetcorn pancakes with lobster sauce.

At Cheshire based Nelson Hotels’ pubs a ‘Great Pancake Party’ is being hosted at three sites. The week-long event, which started on Monday, sees four pancake fillings on offer which have been voted for by customers.

Fillings include wild mushroom, spinach and goat’s cheese filled pancakes, aubergine caviar and truffle cream; home-made pancakes with caramelised bananas, toffee sauce and honeycomb; crêpe Suzette and caramelised oranges and Cointreau ice cream.

The company will donate 10% of all pancake sales to charity The Great Pancake Party which raises money for the Cardiomyopathy Association.

Food & Fuel site the Lots Road Dining Room in Chelsea, London, is offering a pancakes and milkshakes menu today. Three sweet and three savoury pancakes and three milkshakes are on offer all day.

At Ribble Valley Inns’ sites a £10 pancake main and dessert is on offer. Options include spring onion pancake with Harvey’s pulled pork and Goosnargh duck, orange and chicory salad and citrus jelly.
