Local residents who saved Tottenham's Antwerp Arms from potentially being turned into flats are now looking to recruit staff.

The Antwerp Arms Association is seeking a manager to run the premises after its offer to buy the Antwerp Arms in Church Street was accepted last month.

The AAA has spent the past year campaigning to save the ‘traditional locals’ pub’, which dates back to the 1830s and is a favourite with Tottenham Hotspur supporters.

Enterprise Inns sold the property to developers Hinterwell Ltd last October before it became listed as an asset of community value (ACV) one month later.

Since then the association has raised £178,000 through crowdfunding website Micro Me, and last month it secured £285,000 from the Social Investment Bank.

“We put in an offer and after some negotiation we reached a price,” Ashley Grey, an AAA spokeswoman told the Publican’s Morning Advertiser.

“We are anticipating that if everything goes according to plan we will…take ownership of the pub at some point in February.”

The venue is located 400 metres from White Hart Lane stadium and includes a fully working kitchen and a two bedroom residential flat.

“We are open to ideas,” Grey continued. “It could be a live-in position, a job share or a husband and wife team. We’re taking advice from other publicans who have been supportive. We look forward to hearing from people.”
