Budweiser came out fighting against the rise of craft beer in its ad slot during last night’s Super Bowl coverage in the US.

Over loving shots of hops and beechwood woodchips the brand is touted as “proudly a macro beer,” which is not brewed to be” fussed over” or “dissected” but for drinking.

It finishes: “Let them sip their pumpkin peach ale, we’ll be brewing us some golden suds.”

The ad gained a mixed reception with American beer fans on Twitter last night.

Brand-owner ABInBev confirmed this was a US-only ad and told the Publican’s Morning Advertiser that there are “no plans for a UK launch.”

Last summer the World Cup boosted sales of Budweiser and sister brand Stella Artois in the UK.
