Film star Keanu Reeves has been spotted enjoying some quintessentially British cuisine at a Fuller, Smith & Turner pub in Hertfordshire.

Reeves, who was described by staff as a “nice guy”, ordered fish and chips washed down with Seafarers Ale at the Robin Hood pub in Tring, which is a Fuller’s tenanted site, on Saturday 4 February.

Co license holder Terry Johnson said: “It was great to have him in. We left him alone for his lunch like we'd leave everybody alone.

Surprise visitor

“When he finished his lunch or when it came time for payment our [barmaid Laura Rolfe] asked if he'd be happy to speak to the kitchen boys because they were obviously excited and he shook their hands, thanked them for the food etc. and had some photos with him, which was really nice.

“Overall, he was a genuinely a nice guy.”

The pub later took to social media to share news of the Canadian actor, who is best known for starring in films like the Matrix and John Wick, having visited the pub.

A post of the pub’s Facebook page said: “So today we had a surprise visitor for lunch.

Lovely man

“What a lovely man he was too. Laura asked if he would be ok with taking photos with the kitchen lads.

“He marched into the kitchen shook their hands and praised them for the food they had prepared. Suffice to say he made their days!”

Additionally, the pubco also took to social media, sharing on Twitter: “Imagine Keanu Reeves just casually rocking up to your local pub for fish and chips… well, that’s exactly what happened to our tenants at The Robin Hood.”
