A London pub has had to turn people away and unveiled plans to start selling merchandise after being referenced in Taylor Swift’s latest album.

The Black Dog in Vauxhall, South London, inspired track 17 on the Tortured Poets Department, the American singer-songwriter’s 11th studio album that was released last week.

Since then, the pub has reportedly seen fans racing through the doors, with some even buying pint glasses as souvenirs, and has been so busy it has had to turn some visitors away.

In a post shared to Instagram yesterday (Monday 22 April), the Black Dog also announced it was preparing for its first “drop” of merchandise.

Really excited

Moreover, the venue has reportedly increased its security for June and August, when Swift is set to perform at Wembley Stadium, as it expects a further increase in the number of visitors.

The Black Dog’s marketing consultant Amy Cowley reportedly told Sky News staff had been “really excited about the whole thing”.

As reported in Sky News, Cohen continued: "To now get that sort of international level of recognition is surreal but it's lots of fun. It's been a bit of a whirlwind, but we're enjoying it.

All hands on deck

"Last night we were turning people away because we were at total mass capacity.

"We're expecting a lot more. We're all hands on deck, getting more team members in, getting security at the door to help manage the big crowds.

"She's got nine nights at Wembley, so when that happens we're really expecting an influx at that point. We're definitely preparing for it.

"When she's next here, please stop by, we would love to have a fun thing with her. Come on in and have a drink with us."
