EPoS till provider Zonal has acquired online ordering company Freshnet Systems.

Freshnet is an online procurement system, which allows registered users to place orders for fresh produce.

As part of the deal, Freshnet founder Tony Swann will head up the new Zonal e-commerce division, which will incorporate the continued development of the Freshnet product.

"This key acquisition will see many benefits in efficiency for our customers with true integration into the already impressive functionality of our Aztec suite of products," said Zonal managing director Stuart Mclean.

"We welcome all Freshnet clients into the Zonal fold and look forward to working with them to promote best practice and efficiency."

Swann added: "The synergies between Zonal and Freshnet in terms of product fit and company culture will greatly benefit our current customers as well as the large Zonal customer base. I am very excited about joining such a progressive company as Zonal and looking forward to the opportunities that will arise."
