Police are appealing for witnesses after two men were attacked with a machete outside a south London pub. The men were taken to hospital with serious cuts to the head, neck and hands after the incident outside the Tir Nan Og in Wandsworth. Three men have been arrested following the attack, which happened at around 11pm on Sunday 22 June. Another suspect, who has not yet been found, is described as about 23, white, around 6ft tall and athletically built. He wore a dark zip-up polo neck top and dark trousers. Trio cleared of violence Two women and a man have been cleared of affray after allegedly threatening unlawful violence in an unprovoked incident at a South Wales pub. The prosecution claimed that Beverly Jones, Tania Hurley and Malcolm Kelly attacked three female customers "for no good reason" at the Caulfields in Burry last November. But in police interviews they denied being the aggressors. Jones and Hurley said they were acting in self defence and Kelly claimed he was just trying to calm things down. The jury took just 20 minutes to find all three defendants not guilty of affray at Swansea Crown Court last week. Kelly's wife Debra was cleared of the charge during the trial after the judge accepted that she had no case to answer. Screening for drugs in pubs More than one in seven people tested for drugs at a Hertfordshire pub were found to have traces on them, police said last week. Officers found traces of illegal substances on 22 out of 140 people who were screened before entering the pub in Borehamwood. Using their new Itemiser machine which can detect the smallest quantity of drugs on a person by taking a reading from a swab police found four people with traces of heroin, two with traces of cocaine and 16 with traces of cannabis. No actual drugs were found and no arrests were made. Police seek safe fitter Detectives investigating the murder of a West Midlands licensee are looking for a man who fitted a safe that was stolen soon after the host's death. Police in the town of Bloxwich are trying to find a man who fitted a safe at the Royal Oak, Walsall, five or six years ago. The man, known only as Alan, is believed to be in his late 40s, around 5ft 9in with dark hair. Licensee Michael Hughes, 59, was battered to death above the Royal Oak, where he lived, in April. Police suspect that he may have disturbed a burglary. Knife attacks in village pub Police in Hampshire are appealing for witnesses after four men were stabbed in a village pub. One man remains in hospital with stomach wounds after the attack in the Barleycorn at Hedge End on Sunday night. Three other men were taken to hospital to receive treatment for stab wounds to the face and leg. They were later released. Police have arrested a 32-year-old man from Hedge End on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. Yeovil takes tough stance Drinkers in Yeovil who are arrested for alcohol-related violence could soon see themselves banned from pubs across the Somerset town. Yeovil Police and the local Pubwatch scheme said that they hope the new measure will help cut late-night violence. Pubs included in the scheme will be given names and photographs of anyone arrested for alcohol-related offences. Bans will last for up to one year. People will be able to appeal to Pubwatch to have the ban lifted but no appeal has yet been successful. Sergeant Steve Christopher of Yeovil police called the initiative "a good example of Pubwatch and the police working together". He said: "People need to realise that if they get drunk and cause problems in Yeovil they will be banned from all the pubs in the scheme.
