The Union Pub Company has developed a new CD-ROM to help tenants use wine to boost business.

It gives step-by-step tuition on how to design a good wine selection to appeal to a wide range of customers and aims to "demystify"​ wine and reduce the snobbery surrounding it. The initiative is part of an on-going improvement programme for tenants.

Drink ban set to be extended ​A drinking ban in the streets of Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, could be extended, 10 years after its introduction. Plans have been proposed to extend the ban to areas outside the town centre, after the scheme cut alcohol-related crime and disorder. A review into the proposal is being carried out, and residents are being asked their views.

Green awardsare up for grabs​Businesses in Scotland ­ including those in the pub and drinks trade ­ are being urged to enter a competition that recognises companies that have thrived after becoming more environmentally friendly. Take Camra's Northern line​The north London branch of Camra is organising a day-long train trip stopping at pubs in the area. Champagne pair transfer to sister​Allied Domecq Spirits & Wine has announced it will transfer its Champagne brands Mumm and Perrier-Jouet to sister company Allied Domecq Wines from 1 May in a move to consolidate all AlliedDomecq's wines into one portfolio.
