The Galleon Inn, which has become the main pub in the village of Starcross over the last two years, is up for grabs in south Devon. The pub has benefited from the recent closure of the Courtenay Arms, which was directly opposite and is now being converted into residential units. "This is a period corner property that has been improved over recent years most of the letting rooms have been redecorated and a new trade garden constructed," said Sue Stone, of the Stonesmith Partnership. "The owners have built up a good locals trade that supports a range of sports teams. "They have a fine reputation for serving pub-style food and organising occasional themed evenings. They also arrange popular monthly live music and karaoke nights." The main entrance leads to the Fisherman's Bar which has new slate flooring and an open stone fireplace. The Galleon Restau-rant has character part-timber walls, beamed ceilings and covers for 36. A second bar in the property is split into two areas including a dance floor and 40 covers. Its catering kitchen is modern with a good range of facilities. The first-floor letting accommodation has a family room, five double and three single rooms, all of which are en suites. The owners' accommodation has two double bedrooms and a family bathroom. Externally, at the rear, there is the new trade garden, an enclosed courtyard, a workshop, stores and parking for 15 vehicles. "Starcross attracts a variety of visitors and is close to Powderham Castle, a big tourist attraction which has regular live concerts," she added. The Stonesmith Partnership is seeking £100,000 for the inn's leasehold.
