Your help builds secure future

It is easy to forget at times when the licensed trade is under attack from so many sides, what a valuable contribution it makes to the economy at both national and local level. For example, the industry:

Employs more than 1.6 million people in the UK ­ 4.5% of the working population

Generates more than 4.5% of the nation's GDP

This contribution is rarely recognised and the trade is so often a target for criticism, and is unfairly portrayed in the media. At the same time, the trade is tackling issues such as:

Binge drinking

Licensing Act 2003

Smoking bans

Disability Discrimination Act 1995

The Licensed Trade Charity's remit is to look after all of you who have worked or are currently working in the industry.

We offer help by making grants of more than £1m every year to our many beneficiaries.

For us to continue our vital work we need help from people like you who understand the pressures and pitfalls of the trade.

Please give generously. For example, a regular donation of £5 per month, if gift aided, provides the LTC with £76.80 a year. That's often less than the cost of a bottle of wine a month!
