Premier League issues three more "no rights" letters
The Premier League has issued letters from three more foreign satellite channels confirming they have no rights to show Premiership football in the UK.
Last week the Morning Advertiser revealed Arabic channel ART had warned licensees not to use its services to screen football and this week letters from three European channels - Greek SuperSport, Scandinavian Canal+ and DigitAlb of Albania - have been produced.
The Premier League said it hopes the letters will "dispel the myths over EU broadcasts".
Do not be fooled by suppliers purporting to be acting legitimately on our behalfLetter from Netmed Hellas - Greek owner of SuperSport (Nova) channel.
In letters seen by morningadvetiser.co.uk Tobias Andersson from Canal+ said: "We have become aware of a problem in the UK where pubs are using Canal+ decoder cards to view Barclays Premiership Football.
"C More Entertainment AB is the Premier League's licensee for the territories of Denmark, Finland, Norway, Greenland and Sweden.
"We do not have any rights to broadcast Premier League football outside of these territories."
It goes on to say: "Nobody in the United Kingdom has the authority to offer for sale, import or use Canal+ cards in the United Kingdom."
The letters from DigitAlb and Netmed Hellas - which owns Supersport (sometimes referred to as NOVA) - are almost identical.
The Greek one also says: "Do not be fooled by suppliers purporting to be acting legitimately on our behalf."
A Premier League spokesman said: "We are just trying to keep the licensed trade informed and we hope this will assist and help prevent any further misinformation by dealers."
