Madonna's pub faces price investigation
The pub reported to be owned by Madonna and Guy Ritchie is to be investigated for selling drinks at different prices to tourists and regulars.
The Daily Telegraph reports that Westminster Council is to investigate claims made that th Punchbowl in Mayfair does not display its prices correctly - and that staff increase prices to non-regulars.
The celebrity couple denied they had bought the pub earlier this year, despite speculation to the contrary.
One customer, Brian Richardson, told the paper: "On Monday I paid £3.50 for a pint, now all of a sudden it's £3.90. I was shocked. I complained to staff. They have got two prices - regulars prices and non-regulars prices.
"There is no price list on the wall. I don't mind paying more but it is completely arbitrary. It is not the money, it is the price hike. It is outrageous."
Staff at the pub denied such a policy was in place and apologised for the error.
Under UK law, all prices must be displayed and changing prices depending on customers is considered unfair trading.
