The artist and writer Alasdair Gray has restored a mural he painted on a pub wall 40 years ago. The 25ft Falls of Clyde was painted at Kirkfieldbank Tavern - now called the Riverside Bar - near New Lanark. The mural, which depicts views of the Clyde Gorge, was uncovered when the pub was refurbished in 2006, but was badly damaged in two areas. Andy Boyle, the owner of the Riverside Bar, commissioned the 74-year-old to restore the the 4ft (1.2m) wide, 25ft (7.6m) long work of art - BBC
