Brits suffering from hangovers are taking 13 million sick days off work every year. One in four workers took at least one "sickie" in the last 12 months - while three per cent ended up taking three days off after over-indulging, a survey shows. The most popular excuse for women when calling in sick was that they had a migraine, while most men pretended to have a doctor's appointment, the poll of 1,200 people for drinks firm Alibi found - The Mirror

Adults who buy alcohol for under-age drinkers are to be targeted in a crackdown announced by Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill. He said the measure was aimed at "helping the police effectively tackle those outdoor drinking dens where groups of youngsters are supplied with alcohol by one of their number who is over 18". Mr MacAskill, speaking at the Alcohol Focus Scotland licensing conference in Aviemore, said in response to a request from the police he would introduce an amendment to the Alcohol Bill making it an offence for adults to supply alcohol to under-age drinkers in public places - Herald
