Beer-lovers in Birmingham will be asked to name a new brew aimed at promoting their area.

The Jewellery Quarter Business Improvement District teamed up with the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) and nearby Two Towers Brewery to develop a beer that will be sold exclusively in the area.

Locals are being asked to taste, choose the recipe and name the beer at a special event being held on Sunday 13 April at The Rose Villa Tavern. One will see their suggested name printed on the bottle and have their own case of the beer to celebrate with.

Luke Crane, Jewellery Quarter BID manager said: “With so many real ale pubs and bars in the Jewellery Quarter, we thought it was about time that the BID launched its own beer which represented the area and was chosen by the people that will drink it.”

Launch

The beer will be officially launched at the Birmingham Beer and Cider Festival, which runs from 29 October to 1 November.

Mark Bates, organiser of the festival, said: “Following the decision to move Birmingham Beer and Cider Festival to the much larger New Bingley Hall, CAMRA is proud to be involved in this exciting initiative which will give the Jewellery Quarter its own beer identity.”

Mark Arnott-Job, owner of Two Towers Brewery, said: “It is a great privilege to have the opportunity of developing an ale alongside the BID and to have the involvement of the people of the Jewellery Quarter. I am confident the quarter will have a beer they can be proud of and they should all be able to smell it brewing once we get it going.”
