Almost 90% of 18-24 year olds agree that education on the effects of alcohol should be integrated into the National Curriculum, according to new research.

The new survey focusing on health and lifestyle, which was carried out by c1,000 16-24 year-olds in the UK in August through consultancy firm Voxburner Panel, also found that 55% believe binge drinking is exaggerated by the media in the UK.

It showed that when ordering food 58% were most likely to check calorie content, which 61% of females are most likely to check calories compared to 45% of men.

This is followed by a third checking sugar levels and 35% checking fat levels.

At the same time, 56% disagree that the Government should tax sugary foods.

Luke Mitchell, head of insight at Voxburner, said: “Is this the healthiest youth generation of all time? Once regarded as a demographic that paid little attention to body wellness, today the majority of young people are in good health and show both awareness of health concerns and a desire to be fit and healthy.”
