Speaker details

Head chef at top gastropub the Black Bull Sedbergh in Cumbria, Nina Matsunaga will be outlining her stance on sustainability and how she implements it within the pub.

Born in Germany to Japanese parents, Nina moved to the UK permanently in her 20s, when she met her partner James Ratcliffe while working in Manchester's street food scene.

Since 2012 the couple have worked together on business ventures including the Moocher and the Three Hares, before opening their ‘foodie destination’ and pub with rooms, the Black Bull, in 2018.

In that time Nina has also been named the Craft Guild of Chefs 'Pub Chef of the Year', has earned two red rosettes for culinary excellence and has featured in the UK's top 100 list of the Most Influential Women in the Hospitality Industry no less than three times.

We’ll also be hearing from insight experts Lumina Intelligence all about consumer trends and how pubgoers are viewing sustainability.
