A woman responsible for an acid attack in a Bristol pub that left some victims scarred for life has been jailed for four years. Leanne Jackson, 26, appeared at Bristol Crown Court on Monday for sentencing, having admitted wounding offences against five people. The court heard that Jackson threw drain cleaner into the Inkerman pub in St Paul's on 14 December 2003, injuring five people. The victims were treated for burns and inhaling dangerous fumes. Fiona Elder, prosecuting, said some of the victims suffered permanent scarring as a result of the attack. "Almost all of the burns the doctors looked at in relation to the victims were severe and permanent," she said. Jackson, of Byron Street, suffered burns herself while committing the act, which was carried out after she was forcibly removed from a private birthday party at the pub. Recorder Jeremy Stuart-Smith QC told the mother of two: "This was deliberate even though it was done on the spur of the moment. You certainly did know that it was a dangerous substance that could cause really serious harm." Pair badly shaken in vicious robbery A Cambridge host and his partner were dragged down a flight of stairs and assaulted with a wooden post during a pub robbery. The licensee of the Black Horse on Orchard Road, Melbourn, and his partner, were confronted by two men when they went to investigate a disturbance at the pub after closing time on Tuesday last week. After being dragged downstairs and hit with the post, the couple were forced to open the safe and hand over a "large quantity" of cash. The two men then drove off. DC Yvette Clover said: "This was a vicious and, I believe, premeditated attack on the Black Horse pub that has left the two victims badly shaken." The first man is aged 25 to 35, slim to medium build, with dark hair and a goatee beard. He was wearing a black coat which had a hood. The second man is in his 20s, slim to medium build, and with untidy blond hair. He was wearing a white top, jeans and white trainers. Anyone with information is urged to call DC Clover on01223 358966. Armed raiders flee with takings Two men brandished a gun at staff during an early-morning raid at a Nottingham pub. The men struck at the Mapperley pub in the early hours of 31 August and fled with money from the safe. The pub was closed at the time. Both offenders are white and were wearing dark clothing. Det Sgt Neil Fountain said: "The pub is on the corner of Mapperley Road and Porchester Road. It is a busy junction and there will have been plenty of people in the area. We need anyone who may have seen people hanging around the junction or who saw anything suspicious to contact us." Anyone with information is asked to call Meadows CID on 0115 967 0999. Young bar worker's gunpoint ordeal Robbers threatened a teenage bar worker with a gun in the street and marched him back into the pub before fleeing with £20,000. The 19-year-old was returning to the Littern Tree in Rugby, Warwickshire, in the early hours of Tuesday last week when two men cornered him with what is thought to have been a firearm. The teenager was forced into a car, and the robbers parked in nearby Plowman Street before walking him to the pub where he used his keys to let them in. The raiders forced him to open the safe and stole £20,000. The robbers are white, aged about 30 and with Scottish accents. One is 5ft 11in tall and was wearing a light-coloured patterned possibly Burberry jacket. The other man is 5ft 6in tall and was wearing a blue, hooded jacket. Anyone with information is urged to contact police on01788 541111.
