Farm Frites launches spicy wedges
The wedges are supplied frozen and pre-fried and are made from potatoes that are cut into eight pieces instead of six so they cook more quickly.
Marketing manager Nic Townsend suggests the product can be served as a side, snack or sharing option. "Many consumers today do like that bit spicier food and our seasoned wedges coated with herbs and spices for added flavour, taste and aroma are an ideal alternative to chips on the side, plain wedges on a sharing platter and as a stand-alone snack on a bar menu," he said.
Premiumisation
"They also tap into premiumisation, as well as value, an important factor when the economic downturn has had a significant impact on consumer attitudes to spending and willingness to spend. Offer them as part of a meal deal and you satisfy the 56% of consumers who tend to look for a meal deal in order to get good value when eating out."
